About the Club
Cathcart Castle Curling Club is a very friendly mixed club.
Our main league has six rinks playing each other twice during the season. There are four other league competitions including pairs plus and annual points competition.
The more experienced and competitive members of the club compete in RCCC and Province Competitions.
We have nine annual friendly matches against other Clubs plus an annual invitation bonspiel followed by a meal.
New Member Policy
In their 1st season, new members always play at lead or second, whatever their previous curling ability
The club encourages new members by quickly giving them opportunities to play at higher positions
There are a number of internal competitions played throughout the season which give everyone the opportunity of playing in all positions including skip and third. Our Matt Taylor Quaich is the competition in which aspiring players are coached as skip by an experienced skip playing at third. The winner of our Torridon league and the third in the winner of our main competition - the McDonald League - are generally promoted to skip in the main competition.
Our friendly matches are all followed by a meal at the curling rink.
We host a very sociable AGM and dinner at the end of every season.
For our Golden Anniversary Celebrations next season there will be a special dinner, Invitation Bonspiel and an away-day arranged.
