MacKenzie Crook : New Format for 2011/12



The MacKenzie Crook will take on a new format with the inclusion of several new teams. Some changes have also been made to meet with the views of the majority. (This was the result of the survey carried out on our behalf by J Crawford.)

1/ All games will now start at 1.45pm on Monday afternoons.

2/ Each team will be required to pay £40.00 per game, instead of £38.00 and The additional £2.00 collected will go towards the Closing Bonspiel.

3/ The first part of the season will be Two sections of Nine teams Each team plays every other team in their section. A total of 8 games.

4/ All teams will then be split into Three divisions of “SIX” The top 3 teams from each section will go into division “One”. The next 3 teams into division “Two” and the final 3 teams into division “Three”. Each team will play a further “Three” games against the teams from the other section that they have not already played. The 3 Additional games will be played on 3 out of the following 5 Mondays;- February 6th : 13th and 20th, March 5th and 12th. (Each team will play 11 games in total during the season.) All scores from previous games will be carried forward into the new divisions. The closing bonspiel will then take place on Monday the 26th March.

5/ The “MacKenzie Crook” is presented to the overall winning team Along with individual mementos. An invite will also be extended to attend the Prize Giving ceremony during The Closing Bonspiel organised by The BCDG. It is also hoped to have a Trophy for each of the teams that go onto win Division Two and Division Three.

5/ The organisation and running of the Closing Bonspiel will now come under the remit of The Curling Development Officer. Bruce Harley has “Once Again” agreed to financial support the closing Bonspiel.

6/ Results will be produced and updated on a weekly basis. They will be posted on The local Notice Board as well as the Braehead Curlers web page.

Free Practice Ice

Braehead are offering Practice Ice sessions free of charge to Braehead members.
This will happen every couple of weeks if the ice is available and the day and time will vary each time. Look out for notices on this page.

Saturday Sweep

For anyone and runs between 10-12noon just wear clean trainers and a warm jumper. It costs £5 and equipment is provided.
