Twelve teams were attracted to this year’s open and included a team who travelled through from Kinross.
The format was Three Five end games in a schenkle system.
The first round opponents were drawn using Braehead’s unique electronic draw equipment.
However, One of the ladies pointed out that it looked just like a “Bingo” game?

All games were played in a friendly but competitive spirit and one of the favourites, Kirsty Letton’s team, lost their opening game by seven shots to one against a new team formed this season by Liz Paul. Sally Gray’s team also won their opening game by 7 shots to one so it meant they played against each other in the next round. (Three other winning teams in the 1st round were;- Anne Airey, Angeal Wilcox and Ann Harvie.) It was all square after four ends between Liz and Sally but without the hammer in the last end Sally went down by 5 shots to 3. Angela Wilcox came through to win by 8 shots to 2 against Anne Airey to set up what turned out to be the virtual final between Liz and Angela, although a draw could see one of the teams below overtaking them to win the competition.

However, Nanette Davidson, Margaret Cairns, Ann Maree Davidson and skip Liz Paul were in full control and took one shot at each of the 1st four ends against Angela’s team and won the game by 4 shots to 1.

Bruce Harley thanked the sponsors Apex Solar Energy as he congratulated and presented the Trophy to the winning team. Liz was full of praise for David who organised the competition and for the support of Margaret Gibb (RCCC Ladies Branch). Special thanks to the other teams who took part in the competition and especially her own team members.
